Electronics Students Develop Emergency Communication Device
Warren County Technical School students Abbie Heim and Tucker Dunham were inspired to do something after learning of the devastation in Puerto Rico due to Hurricane Maria in September and the communication crisis that followed. In response the classmates developed a project for their Electronics class at Warren Tech. Students in the program routinely develop their own electronics projects from scratch, so when the opportunity came along this year, the pair attempted to tackle the problem of limited communication after an emergency, when traditional forms of communication are down. The result, “A Data Communication Network for Emergency Communication.”
